MATHEMATICS SCHOOL OF THE 2025/COLORS

Color concept education in preschool has held a very important place for the cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.

In our project, primary school students have recognized, named, classified, grouped colors, experimented with secondary colors, and worked with numbers and shapes related to the colors they have learned.

1. Development of Perception and Attention
Recognizing and distinguishing colors has improved children’s visual perception and attention.
Learning the differences between various colors has increased their ability to focus on details.

2. Development of Language and Communication Skills
Learning and using color names has enriched children’s vocabulary.
Conversations about colors have supported their expression and communication skills.

3. Cognitive Development and Concept Formation
Colors have supported the development of cognitive processes such as classification, comparison, and matching.
Exploring different shades and combinations of colors has strengthened their abstract thinking skills.

4. Artistic and Creative Development
Color-focused activities such as painting, cutting, and pasting have enhanced children’s creativity.
It has been observed that while playing with colors, their sense of aesthetics has developed and their self-confidence has increased.

Within the scope of our project, the concept of colors has been studied in mixed teams. This collaborative work has been integrated using the Ourbox tool by the project founder, Fatma Duman.
